Why this exists

A note from the founder

I made CÂLINE for my own children. Most “plush” baby washcloths are secretly polyester, and I didn't want plastic anywhere near their skin.

So this is the real thing: organic cotton, GOTS certified from the field to the finished cloth, with the certificate number printed on every tag. I know you read labels late at night. So do I.

Unused sets can be returned within 30 days of delivery — just reply to your order email and we'll take care of it.
How do I care for them?
Machine wash warm with like colors, tumble dry low, and skip fabric softener — it coats the fibers and reduces absorbency. They get softer with every wash.
Why organic cotton instead of regular cotton?
A newborn's skin is thinner and more delicate than an adult's, so what touches it matters more. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides, and GOTS certification verifies the whole journey — no toxic dyes or harsh finishes anywhere between the field and your baby's cheek. Regular cotton can't promise that.
Are they plastic-free?
Yes. Many “plush” baby washcloths are actually polyester or microfiber — plastic that sheds microfibers into the wash and onto skin. CÂLINE is 100% organic cotton, nothing synthetic. If you're de-plastifying your home, bath time is an easy place to start.
What makes these softer than regular washcloths?
Two things: the terry loops are spun from long organic fibers that stay plush instead of matting down, and there are no chemical finishes stiffening the fabric. That's also why they get softer with every wash instead of scratchier — parents of little ones prone to irritation notice the difference.
